Ben je vanwege Igor ’in to quantummechanics’? Dan hier twee boekentips:

Voor de wetenschappers: Anton Zeilinger – Toeval! ISBN 90-8571-0057

Volgens een boekrecensie van Intermediair een goed boek waarbij ‘aangetoond’ wordt dat in ieder geval Einstein het mis had op het gebied van kwantummechanica. Hij toont aan dat ‘de echte werkelijkheid’ niet bestaat en dat de natuurlunde zijn realistische wereldbeedl moet opgeven.

Voor de wat meer verpozende lezer: Adam Fawer – De Einstein Code (ISBN 90-443-1255-3) waar fictie en non-fictie met elkaar verbonden worden tot een spannende thriller in de stijl van Michael Crighton of Dan Brown. Hier wordt het “bewijs” oor het collectief onderbewuste geleverd met een plausibele verklaring en met het afkatten van diverse wetenschappers en ‘wetten’ een aanrader om je gedachten weer wat verder te laten gaan…

Fractals

Als ik iets nieuws (concept of design) moet bedenken laat ik me steeds vaker inspireren door Fractals. Ik kan soms minuten wegduiken in Fractals. Misschien is het leuk in het kader van “Igors” Creatief voelen om hier eens mee aan de slag te gaan. Het creagevoel tussen de zintuigen oproepen. Het levert mij heel wat inspiratie op. Ik voel bij Fractals vaak het creatieve opborrelen (nee ik heb geen pilletjes genomen Marius). probeer het gewoon eens. Pak een startvraag en neem de tijd om tijdens het bedenken van ideeen naar het onderstaande beeld tekijken/staren. Ik hoop dat er ook iets bij jullie gebeurd…

Overigens meen ik in veel fractals het creatieve proces (patroon) te herkennen.

Michael Osofsky schrijft in zijn weblog een interessante post over de Front End of Innovation. Hij zegt dat je in die fase van het innovatieproces niet kunt bepalen welke ideeen goed zijn en welke niet. Je moet ze eerst allemaal wat verder onderzoeken. Zie onderstaande quote of lees zijn post.
“One of my marketing professors had a great piece of advice for idea management. He said you have to be prepared to look at a lot of ideas. I’ve found that to be good advice because at the FFE, you never have enough information to tell which are good or bad ideas. Only by pursuing an idea can you answer questions about the idea. The investigation itself takes time and resources. So it makes sense to construct a portfolio of opportunities and start by investigating them all, just a little bit. Once you’ve done an initial phase of investigation, you whittle down the list and do another pass of deeper investigation. You keep repeating this process until you just can’t kill the last remaining idea. That’s the process of idea management.”

Is toch weer een andere kijk op convergentie, niet?

Best Times to Be Creative

Onderstaand bericht vond ik in een weblog. Misschien interessant voor ons allen…The January 16th issue of TIME magazine has a major section on “How to Sharpen Your Mind.”

One of the key articles explores the best times of day for both “Morning People” and “Night Owls” to create, problem solve, rejuvinate and rest. I’ve re-worked the graphics presented in TIME for this post.

For the Morning Person
TIME says, for the early riser, “creativity generally peaks early in the wake cycle before distractions can impede the brain’s imaginative focus.”

For the Night Owl
The most productive time for Night Owls is “long after they’ve shaken off morning groginess.” While working past midnight can be effective, experts agree “sleeping less than the optimal eight hours can impair cognitive performance.”

Low Concentration – the body’s clock shifts, lowering concentration.
Creativity – best time for brainstorming and open-ended thinking. Before the brain is flooded with the day’s stimuli.
Problem Solving – The brain is warmed up and at its peak for activities from analysis to memorization.
Rejuvination - ‘To stay sharp, experts suggest refreshing the mind with daily exercise and brain-building activities like reading, artistic exploration and puzzle solving.’

Hebben fabrikanten onvoldoende creativiteit en zijn ze te weinig innovatief? Kruidvat roept mensen op om hun goede ideeën te delen met hun inkopers. De drogisterij roept consumenten in een advertentie op om naar de A.S. Watson ideeëndag te komen op vrijdag 24 februari 2006.

“Heeft u een vernieuwend idee waarvan u denkt dat het een groot succes zou zijn bij Kruidvat of Trekpleister? Maar heeft u nooit de gelegenheid gehad om met een van onze inkopers aan tafel te zitten? Grijp dan nu uw kans en kom naar de A.S. Watson ideeëndag”, zo luidt de advertentie.
